A Healthy Smile, A Healthy Body
Did you know that the cause of most tooth loss is not decay? It’s gum disease. And recent studies have established a link between gum disease and your overall health. The good news is that gum disease can be treated successfully, often without surgery. Our commitment to you includes paying meticulous attention to all of your needs for healthy teeth and gums so you not only look your best but also have optimum overall health.
The Importance of Infection Control in a Dental Office
We take the safety of all our patients very seriously. Without proper sterilization of water lines, it’s possible to spread contaminants, which can be dangerous. At Prairie Mountain Dental, we have implemented extra systems for your protection. DentaPure™ is the water line purification system created for use on the International Space Station. We also use Safe-Flo™ evacuation lines to prevent backflow during suction.
Protect Your Teeth During Sports
Did you know that 5 million teeth are knocked out each year in the United States alone? Many sports can be dangerous without the proper protection. The one-size-fits-all mouthguards found in stores just don’t fit very well. Custom-made sports mouthguards fit well, protect well, and can be worn for any sport.
Complete Care from the Team You Know
Sometimes a tooth is too damaged for a regular filling and requires a root canal. Wisdom teeth typically require extraction because they do not grow in properly, and occasionally a troublesome tooth must be removed. In most cases, Dr. Hicks, our oral surgeon is able to perform most tooth extractions right here in our office in Helena, MT, with the team you already know and trust.
Teeth Whitening – Dazzling Results!
It’s natural to want brighter teeth! Whiter teeth are healthier looking, and easier to achieve than most people think. The only way to get your teeth their whitest is by using a professionally supervised bleaching process. Dr. Hicks offers custom whitening trays, made in his own lab. You will receive supplies and instructions and you finish the procedure at home. This teeth whitening technique is safe and effective. Results occur within 1 – 14 days.
Relax Through Your Care
While we take great pride in being able to deliver painless injections, some patients are naturally anxious at even the thought of a needle. If this sounds like you, we offer sedation dentistry that may help you. One hour before your visit you take a pill that we prescribe for you. You reach a level of sedation that allows you to respond to questions but relax through your entire visit. This is also ideal for those who have a busy schedule and want to get all their treatment done in one visit.
Technology: Digital X-Rays
Traditional dental X-rays have been “good enough,” but digital X-rays provide clearer and much more accurate pictures of what’s going on inside a patient’s mouth. This makes it easier for the doctor to diagnose issues. Leaks or breaks in fillings that used to go unnoticed, often leading to root canals, can now be found and treated before major damage is done. We can also view your entire mouth in one shot, including the upper and lower jaws, with panoramic digital images.
